The filter medium clogs faster, needs cleaning or replacing more often, and the pressure drop rises. A pre-separator takes this load off the main filter. It is therefore the first stage of an extraction system, followed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ratec-systems.com\/en\/cartridge-filters\/\">cartridge filter<\/a> and, where the highest purity is required, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ratec-systems.com\/en\/high-efficiency-particulate-air-hepa-ultra-low-penetration-air-ulpa-filters\/\">HEPA filter<\/a>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"zwei-bauformen\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Two designs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gravity separator:<\/strong> The air is slowed down and redirected in a chamber. Coarse, heavy particles cannot follow the flow and settle out by gravity. This design is simple, robust and particularly suitable for coarse particles.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cyclone pre-separator:<\/strong> The air is set rotating and centrifugal force carries the particles outwards and down. This is compact and efficient, even with smaller particles.
