Central Vacuum Systems

Our central vacuum systems provide a powerful and efficient solution for dust extraction in large industrial facilities. They are designed to supply multiple extraction points simultaneously while maintaining consistently high performance and filtration efficiency.

With a central system, dust sources from various areas such as production halls, workshops, or assembly lines are connected via a network of piping. The system enables centralized control and monitoring, resulting in simplified maintenance and reduced operational costs. Thanks to their robust construction and customization to your specific requirements, our central vacuum systems offer a durable and reliable solution.

Our systems are flexible and can be equipped with various filtration stages as needed — ranging from simple pre-separators to high-performance cartridge or HEPA filters — ensuring the safe removal of even the finest dust particles.

RATEC central vacuum systems, also known as central dust extraction systems or centralised dust collectors, serve many extraction points at once from a single plant, from machines to whole production lines. A pipe network links every dust source to the central unit, which delivers constant suction and filtration and is controlled from one place. We design every system around your operation and build it at our own plant in St. Veit an der Glan, Austria.

How central vacuum systems work

Instead of placing a separate extraction unit at every machine, a central vacuum system works with one shared central unit. From there, a pipe network runs to all extraction points in production halls, workshops or along production lines. The dust is captured right at the source, carried away through the pipes and separated in stages in the central unit. The cleaned air leaves the system via the fan.

To make sure every extraction point receives the suction it needs, suction manifolds distribute the airflow evenly. Points that are not in use are closed by butterfly valves, and sniffle valves keep the suction constant and reduce energy consumption.

Filter stages as required

The system shown in the pictures is just one example from a customer project. Every RATEC central vacuum system is built to the requirements of the respective customer.

Your benefits

  • Several extraction points at once: one system for the whole operation.
  • Consistently high performance: constant suction and filtration efficiency.
  • Central control and monitoring: easy maintenance in one place.
  • Lower operating costs: energy-efficient design, low-maintenance construction.
  • Robust and durable: built for continuous industrial use.

What matters in the design

  • Extraction points: number, location and how many are used at the same time.
  • Dust: type, quantity, particle size, combustible or hazardous fractions.
  • Building: pipe routing, space for the central unit, discharge or return of the cleaned air.
  • Safety: occupational health and safety, fire and explosion protection.

Everything from a single source

From initial consultation through planning, technical design and manufacturing to installation and commissioning: RATEC handles the entire process. It always starts with a careful analysis of your operational conditions. You can find out more about our approach under Extraction systems. We manufacture in our own plant in Carinthia, certified to ISO 9001, EN 1090-1 and ISO 3834-2.

Yes, provided that reserves are factored into the fan, filter, and ductwork during planning. New points are then connected via intake manifolds. RATEC accounts for planned expansions during the design phase.

The most energy is saved by shut-off dampers at unused points, sniffer valves, and demand-based fan control, such as with a frequency converter. This way, only as much air is moved as actually needed. RATEC plans these components in from the very start.

A central system pays off when there are many extraction points, since filter, fan, and maintenance are bundled in one place and the noise disappears from the hall. Individual units are suited to a few, widely spread workstations. RATEC will advise you on the right choice based on your extraction points.
